TOURS INCLUDE:
A guided program, a 45-minute hay wagon tour of the farm, and time to play in our
amazing corn maze and Field of Fun. Throughout the maze, there are 10 multiple-choice questions hidden for kids to find and answer.
TOUR DESCRIPTION & BOOKING:
Tours are typically 2 hours in length. Contact us any time to book a tour. We suggest a 5:1 elementary student to adult ratio.
We offer a variety of options:
TOUR DATES &TIME:
Our farm tours are available from September 1st through October 31st, Monday through Friday. Several classes can be accommodated at the same time. Provision can be made for other times. Children are welcome to bring a snack to enjoy during the break.
FARM FACILITIES:
Washroom facilities are available. There is ample parking space for cars and buses. Wheelchair accessible.
ELEMENTARY PROGRAM DESCRIPTIONS:
| Grade | Description |
| K | Students will examine various farm produce. The physical structure corn plant will be examined to identify the parts of a plant: stem, leaves, flowers, roots. We will then categorize the farm produce by plant parts. |
| 1 | Unit: Seasons of the Year Students will see first hand the effect the fall season has on plants. Farming activities will be categorized by season: spring field preparation and planting, summer plant "maintenance", and fall harvest and plowing. |
| 2 | Unit: Plants and Animals Discussion will focus on the components a corn plant and how it grows. This will lead to a talk about animal and plant co-existence: animals eat corn, corn seeds get "planted". |
| 3 | Unit: Communities of Living Things We will focus our examination on the physical structure of the corn plant, its method of reproduction, seed dispersal, and protection. Its role in its environment will be discussed. |
| 4 | Unit: Plants The physical structure corn plant will be examined to identify the plant parts. The function of these corn plant parts will be discussed. Its method of reproduction will be compared and contrasted with that of a pumpkin plant. |
| 5 | Unit: Weather and Climate We will first discuss the ideal growing conditions of sweet corn. Students will then be introduced to the system of measurement called "corn heat units" which relates corn development and temperature. |
MIDDLE SCHOOL and HIGH SCHOOL PROGRAMS
We will gladly tailor our school tour for any grade level in any subject (science, social studies, math, etc.). Here are our suggested links to the New Brunswick science curriculum.

| 9 | Life Science: Reproduction Students will learn about the reproduction of corn plants. |
| 10 | Life Science: Sustainability of Ecosystems Students will hear how Hunter Brothers' farm management practices keep sustainability in mind. |
FARM LOCATION:
Hunter Brothers Farm is located between 625 and 643 Main Street in Florenceville. Just 2 km down the River Road (Route 105) from the village of Florenceville - just below the RCMP barracks.
